How to reach
Thessaloniki’s “MAKEDONIA AIRPORT” (SKG) has direct international flight connections to many destinations in Europe. During the summer period also charter airlines fly frequently to Thessaloniki. The Greek AEGEAN AIRLINES, a reliable and competitive international transport company, is member of STAR ALLIANCE. They often make special offers for early booking. You will be informed about, via e-mail, if you subscribe in their newsletter at www.aegeanair.com.
Conference venue for the 13th Patras Workshop is the Hotel MAKEDONIA PALACE, a five star hotel and a major venue for international congresses and conferences. Ideally situated within easy reach from the city center and yet at a safe distance from the city life, it combines many amenities for business and leisure. After his total renovation by the end of April 2017 it will be upgraded to the best hotel in town.
The distance from the Airport to the Hotel is about 15 km. Take a taxi and you will be at the Hotel in 20 minutes. The total taxi fare costs about 20 euros (up to 3 persons).
A public bus service from the airport to the city center is available 24/7, bus number 78 or 78N(ight). These bus services operate from the airport approximately every 30 minutes. Tickets cost 2€ one way. The nearest station to the Hotel to get off the bus is called “Faliro” on Vassileos Georgiou Street. Cross this street and take any nearby vertical small street towards the sea. After few minutes’ walk you will be in front of the hotel. For your way back to the Airport the bus station is very close to the Hotel.
If you are reaching the Makedonia Palace Hotel from the center of the city (less than 3 km) use Bus Lines 5,6 or 8 and get off the bus at “Faliro” station, 150 m away from the hotel. More exciting is of course to walk along the old and the new promenade.
